50 hours of hard work

Finally got to the 50 hour point. Now I need to do the 50 hour thing.
Before I start I would like to have input from fellow Kubota members. Plus would someone be so kind as to point me to some past threads. One last thing, how do ya get to the oil filter?
This is also posted in GENERAL OWNING/OPERATING. That was a mistake on my part.

Regarding the oil filter, use the socket type that will fit the BX sized filter. You then need a wrench extension to be able to loosen it more easily.

Get a 15 gal. collection pan from Wally World to collect the old hydro fluid. It helps to park the BX on some 2x4's to get a little more clearance to slide the collection pan under the hydro drain plug.

Don't forget to clean the hydro screen too. It's located behind the left rear tire. Also, when refiling the hydro, those funnels with the accordion style flex tube on the bottom work well. You can use the top link retaining clip on the back of the tractor to hold the funnel (kinda hard to hold it when you're heavin that 5 gal. bucket of UDT, don't cha know).

15 quart is plenty, and will fit under the tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I haven't done the BX yet, just the 3010, but you'll find it goes much quicker with multiple drain pans (one for each plug)

Bx only had one drain for the hydro. and one for the engine oil. A much smaller set up tham your 3010.

I use a trans filler funnel, it fits nicely and holds itself in.
Also, taking the tire off makes the screen cleaning alot more tolerable. O-Rings on hand is good too.

I pasted this from a post I had last year. Hope it helps.


Just did my 50 hour on my bx23 this morning. Took about two hours.. Don't worry about the fluid in the FEL. Just move the cylinders so that they are retracted fully. A few things for others:
bolt sizes

Engine drain: 19mm
trans drain: 17mm
Front end drain: 14mm
front end fill: 22mm
Trans screen: 26mm


Thats the only tools I needed. A funnel with tubing on the end will be helpful with trans filling. If you drive all of your wheels up onto 2x6s you can remain level and gain a little more access for the front end drain procedure. I used a standard filter wrench. After filling the front end let it sit for about 15 minutes and then top off again. Nothin' to it.
