I need to change the hydro-static filter per the 50 hour schedule of my B2320. It states that the filter only is to be changed. How do you guys change this filter without loosing all the $$$ fluid. Also, it seems the dealer sold me the hydraulic filter and not the hydro-static filter... so I need to go back now and buy the correct filter.

I haven't tried this (yet) but somebody here used a method where they attached a Shopvac to the hydro fluid inlet to minimize fluid loss during a filter change. YMMV.

I guess worse case I can get a new 5 gallon bucket and just drain and refill??? I may be over thinking this.

Don't you need to change both at 50 hours.? I know when I had a L3400HST it called for both filters at 50 hours. There are two methods to mitigate fluid loss, neither which are great. The vacuum cleaner method and the slope method. The shop vac, held by an assistant at the fluid filler opening while you quickly change the filters, this suck air in and prevents much fluid from escaping. Prepare for some fluid to enter the vacuum though. The other way (I have never tried this one, only heard about it) is to park on a slope with the filter on the uphill side. The idea is the fluid will be away from the filter opening. Check your manual, but I am pretty sure the hydraulic and the Hydrostatic filter both need to be changed.

I have a B2320 . I had pretty good luck doing this . Have everything ready to go . New filter positioned under tractor for quick grabbing . Filter wrench if you think you will need it . Drain bucket just encase . Rags for spills and drips . Crawl under tractor and do a practice dry run . Everything must be done fairly quickly . Remove old filter and place thumb over hole with one hand . Pickup new filter with other hand . Install new filter . Check hydro level and top off if needed . I lost very little fluid this way .

There you go.. method number 3, and sounds like the best one to me.

I used a rubber cork in the fill hole. Not too much came out but one thing you need to look for is the magnetic ring. Mine stayed stuck to the filter but others have had it stick to the tractor. The new filter comes with a new ring and you want to use the new ring as the old one will have lots of fine metal shavings stuck to it and there's not enough room for two rings. If you're going to do the swap it quick method and the ring stays on the tractor you'll need to pop it off (easy) the tractor with your fingers or a thin blade screw driver and be prepared for oil running out as you do it.

Park on a slope and be quick. Have 1-2 quarts of new fluid on hand to replace any that spills.

Vacuum on the filler hole works good and so does sealing the vent either way you will not lose more than a teaspoon of oil.

You are good. A teaspoon of oil. I am afraid to say I lost a tad more than a teaspoon.
