I've got a sweet 49.6 Hours on the clock!
LOVE the tractor, would recommend the Boomer Series to anyone!
Any thoughts or suggestions on what I can do or look for while performing my first scheduled maintenance? Is it okay to use Rotella T, or am I supposed to use the NH brand? The oil filter, any suggestions on where to get it (I assume at the dealer). Anyway, shoot some ideas my way, preventative stuff, should I be looking at the Hydro Filter also??

I believe all the filters get changed at 50 hrs. I did use some cross over numbers at the NAPA store but the filter was not the same size so I went with OEM filters for hydo and oil. Fuel filter I got at the parts store.

I went with Rotella for the oil change but I am going to go with a synthetic next time, including the hydro fluid.

I had a small hydro fluid leak at the cooler (hose clamp connection) that I tightened up and it hasn't come back. Just give the machine a good once over.

Can you explain your feeling on the syn.? I have thought about it in my truck, but mainly to extend the change intervals. Sounds like I'll head to the dealer for all the filters the first time around. I trust Rotella, and will likely stick with it unless anyone chimes in with a better idea.
Thanks for the reply.

If you visit the lubricants forum, you can find an exhaustive number of arguements regarding the synthetic / traditional lubricants. I'm not going to start one here, just my personal decision. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ahh,
Well I won't go to far into that myself either, except I know quite a few people with over 500,000 miles on 5.9L Cummins engines ran on dino oil from day 1. I'm all for new & improved, but the price of the synthetics is a bit out of hand (IMO).

I have no reason to doubt you, maybe the key to extended engine life is a regular maintenance program.

Heck, the way oil prices are going, synthetics might be a more attractive alternative in the near future. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
