50 Hr. parts cost?

   / 50 Hr. parts cost? #11
Just as an FYI, I have had ongoing problems (posted earlier) with starting, especially in cold weather. He supposedly has spoken to Branson and he stated they told him there are a couple of known problems that he is going to fix under warranty.

He is going to put in a new timer on the glow plug and adjusting timing on the injection pump. He said this is the second one he has done. Anyone else out there seeing this repair/update?

I also have had some problems with overheating (in 20 degree weather !!) that he is supposed to repair.

Total hours on it now 35.

Sigh, it's all in your sig, which I missed completely. It's been a long day. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

That still seems high for a 50 hour service, though.

Thanks for the reply on dealer costs...I was hoping for a little lower price, but guess I won't know for sure till I see my dealer..it's sad, I live less than 2 miles from my dealer, but with my hrs, I can't get to his shop during his operating hrs. Guess I'll just have to sneak a day off of work so that I can get the straight poop from him... thanks again...Brian

I got my filters from my dealer..2 hr's away US mail $32

I had a 3820 which had starting problems also,
I eneded up with a 4720, it's (now) my understanding some of them
had timers form the older model 3 cly engine?
Anyway while it was in for poor starts I had the 50hr done $150.
So your poor starts maybe a simple fix?
My dealer really tried to take care of me, they just wernt
sure how to fix the poor starts at the time.
There's also a dealer 1/2 hr from me, you'all would not
believe the difference a 2 hr drive makes.
I'd really like to spill the beans on the near by dealer /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
But only if someone ask me /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Not a problem on the costs. At $300 looks like I will be doing it on my own. Shouldn't be too bad. OK for a guy that knows exactly where Goodrich IL is (grew up south of Springfield and went to school in Normal) I HAVE to hear the dealer story /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

GEB,

How are ya? Hey, did you say you were having trouble starting your 4720? or was it the tractor before it?

How are you liking the 4720 so far?

Bob

Yep Goodrich is about 15 miles west of Kankakee.
My 4720 is running, starting & working nice!
The starting problem was with the 3820.
The dealer.. I really tried to buy local, Beecher IL, 1/2 hr away.
Once I got my price I had to shop around.
So I called B&T Tractors in LaPorte In. 2 hr's away.
They were $3000 less right over the phone for the exact
same set up!
I went back to the dealer in Beecher IL, they would not come
down even though B&T was $3000 less /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Needless to say I spent my money at B&T.
I drive 130 miles round trip back and forth to work, the dealer in Beecher can kinda be on the way home.
So I call there looking for filters, talk to the partsman,
he has no ideal who I am.
I tell him I'm lookin for filters, he ask if I bought the tractor there...I say no sir...he says oh we dont have a catalog for
that tractor.
Bottom line is I did not buy the tractor there so no parts for me!
After this phone call I find myself TICKED-OFF!
So I call back and ask for the onwer of the place, he said
give me your ser#'s and model #'s of everything I got,
and his partsman will get back with me and have the filters ready for me to pick up.
So as of 3 weeks ago, 2 phone calls & 2 emails no filters!
Called my dealer had filters in 2 days..
THANK YOU B&T Tractors for a great price and fast Service.
The dealer in Beecher...Good luck, your gonna need it!
BTW there's also a dealer in Elpaso IL that is more than willing
to take care of me if needed.

No doubt the dealer can make all the difference in the world. One of the fears I had going from Kubota to Branson was the Kubota dealer was close and would bend over backwards for me. The Branson 3820 was so much lower in price/performnce that it was tough to say no.

So far, after a couple of hiccups, the dealer for Branson has been pretty good to me. Other than the fact I have to pay $50 every time he picks it up to service it.
