Delo would work just fine too. Pretty funny as I always got the opposite effect when running Delo, LOL. Back about 15 years ago that's what we ran was Delo. When the new powerstrokes came out in 94 they ran terrible on Delo, that's when we switched to Rotella.

I just had my second oil change done at the 100 hour mark. This was the recommendation of my Dealer. First one at 50 hours reinstalling fresh "Break in Oil" then at the 97 hour mark with "Regular" JD Oil. The dealer recommended running the Break in Oil for 100 total. This is a dealer that's got a great reputation and has been in business a long time (K.C. Canary in Fultonville NY). I did and will continue to follow their recommendations... too much $$ invested to try second guessing them or taking a chance with brand "X" filters or parts... if one of them fail (yes filters can fail) who will stand behind them? The filter company would replace your engine in such a thing happened??? I'll stick with the Genuine JD stuff! Just my opinion!

</font><font color="blue" class="small">( more-anti-foam in Delo )</font>

Used to be a fellow from Washington State who came to all the National Association of Fleet Administrators conventions and had a booth demonstrating and selling his "snake oil" (as he called it himself); claimed it was not an additive, but a lubricant (although the recommendation was to replace a quart of oil with a quart of his stuff when you changed oil). His demonstration consisted of pouring motor oil into a pie pan, then beating it with a manual egg beater to make it foam. Then he'd add a little of his "snake oil" and try beating it again. Instead of foaming, it would just climb up the egg beater. And he told me he always used Pennzoil for his demonstrations because it would foam more than anything else on the market. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Whether that was true or not, I have no idea.

The plus 50 is a synthetic blend. The reg Rotella is a sure enough bargain. I recently started useing the Rotella synthetic as its currently $12.95 a gallon at wally world. I will probably stick with the plus 50 on the little green machine but then it only needs a whopping 2 qts. lol

I agree if I only had to do 2 qts. of oil I'd buy that stuff too probably. Makes a big difference when you're going through a 55 gallon drum every four or five months though.

I still end up using Rotella and Jiffy lube once or twice a year when my too big for the garage truck needs a change and it is 10* with 2 feet of snow on the ground /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I draw the line at 20* and 1 foot of snow for "lying on your back in the cold" oil changes /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I love my truck but I've gotta draw the line somewhere!

I have straightened the garage so now I can move the tractor outside and get at least get 3/4 of the truck in so I should have solved the problem. Can't close the door but it cuts the wind and rain/snow.

If I used as much oil as you guys I would only use the Shell Rotella. That stuff has got to be in the best buy catagory. You can get a 5 gallon pail for a little over $30 here. I was useing The Valvoline blue max in my GMC at $10 a gallon, non-synthetic. I had no idea there was a synthetic diesel untill I read one of theese strands. Most are too expensive for me personally to justify the cost at a 10 qts a month. I was blown away when I first saw the price of Rotella. One thing I do like about Mobil 1 products is that I do feel they are an "honest" co. On the main page of their web site they plainly say there will be little or no gain from the use of synthetics if you religiously change your oil at the proper interval. I am sure we all want to get a fair price but actually performing routine maintenace as scheduled seems far more important than a brand label within reasonable peramiters.
