Tractor
Mahindra 3525
What is the approximate cost of a 50 hr service and what is included in it? Mahindra 3525 no extra attachments, in Ms, and will require pick up and delivery. Thanks

I've been watching for a reply to your question since my 3525 has about 35-40 hours on it now. I can't believe that the tractor would need anything other than an oil change and maybe an inspection to see if everthing is working OK and that all fluid levels are where they need to be. Check the owners manual to see what is required. My manual is at the other barn right now or I would look.
I hope your 3525 is running as well as mine!

Can't help with the pricing on your 50 hour service, but I would strongly recommend doing all that it says in your manual as I'm sure it will tell you to change the hydraulic oil & filters as well as the engine oil & filter. The main benefit from this major service so early is to rid the systems of all kinds of contaminates from manufacturing & assembly. No matter how meticulous an assembly process is, there will be metal contaminates, sand from castings, pieces of rubber hose, pieces of silicone sealant etc. etc. Hopefully all of these will be inbedded in those filters you are changing and you'll have clean fluid systems so you don't damage very close tolerance parts throughout the systems. Also your manual should tell you to check tightness of bolts everywhere - reasons for this should be obvious, new parts wear-in, torqueing of some fastners might have been missed in assembly, vibration etc. If you are experienced enough, you can shop around for most of the filters & hydraulic & engine oil and do it yourself and save quite a bit. Trans/hydraulic oil varies greatly in price - shop around some and you can usually find it for about $25 for 5 gallons. Napa is starting to carry some filters for Mahindra - check with them. If you don't feel qualified to do it yourself, hopefully you have a good dealer that will treat you right. Whatever the case, don't put this service off - it is one of the most important ones to do.

Well from the horse's mouth, the manual:

1. Clean air filter oil cup
2. Check/top up radiator coolant
3. Check/tighten radiator hose connections
4. Check/tighten fan belt
5. Check/top up Transmission oil
6. Check tire pressure
7. Torque wheel nuts
8. Change power steering return line filter
9. Grease all nipples
That is all that is recomended: not even an oil/filter change
Probably would cost more to transport to dealer and back home than the actual service charges. A DIY should have no trouble handling any of this. The procedure for changing the PS filter is outlined in the book. Of course this is the minimum recomendation, mine with get an oil filter change along with fuel filters just because of time rather than hours. It is harder on a machine that is not used much due to increased condensation in the oil and fuel systems.

I agree with the previous post. The manual doesn't have that much at 50 hours. Mine has 100 hours and I'm thinking it isn't until about 150 hours that you do anything too costly. I bought mine new in Feb of this year and it has been a great tractor thus far.
