50 hrs service

wish my guys came to me - you are very lucky indeed. As stated before - i am very pleased at the new mahindra dealer i found. better than the incompetent that sold me my max 25. I also wish mahindra took more responsibility instead of the businesses. I also seem to see a weird pattern here - though a small pattern, of incompetent - small-time local yokels selling a tractor here and there and know very little and have terrible tech/service help too. also lack decent facilities. Go figure. That is the downside of mahindra.

Dave's Tractor is truly an exception. i live half way across the country and he was there both phone and email to answer a few questions when i bought it that the manual was sketchy on and the dealer i bought it from just had NO CLUE!

Thanks BlackOps!

Clearly the overall quality of Mahindra dealerships nationwide is improving. But we still have some weak areas, or in some cases new dealers that are just getting up to speed. In the west at least, most of the Mahindra mom and pop dealerships that sell a dozen tractors a year have either grown and prospered to become "proper" or have quit selling Mahindra (by either their choice or Mahindra's choice) and the line was moved to a better dealer that does some volume and supports customers properly.

not knocking mom and pop operations. i was implying the tiny doing it for a buck make a sale place that really does not want to grow or learn or care about what they ultimately sell. too big of dealers can have issues too as the orange dealer less than 4 miles away from me shows/proves. that is a nightmare place that is totally full of hubris and could care less about a sale or anything.

I hope Mahindra is paying close attention to the dealer I got my tractor from, because they a falling short of the mark. I have found another dealer that is going to take over my services and maintenance, he really seems to know his way around a tractor better that the one I bought it from.

My dealer quoted me $600 for a 50 Hour on my 2538, that is to change oil and filter, hydraulic fluid and filter, both air filters, fuel filters, front diff fluid check toque on wheel bolts and basically look everything over. The cost for me to buy the filters from them was $300 then I would have to buy the fluid which would be anywhere from $100 - $200 I figure depending on what I bought. So $400 - $500 to do it myself. That seems really high to me but never had one done before so maybe that is going rate for this stuff.

I'm not trying to take business away from the dealers, but you can get your filters online a lot cheaper Here is a LINK $179.00 to include air filters for your 2538, here LINK you can get your fluid filters for $120.09

I have a spare set of filters on hand in the event I can't get to my dealer or I can't wait for them to get it done.... I don't run Mahindra motor oil in mine, I only run synthetic made for diesels.

The 50 hour service on my 2555 cost me $440.86 and I hauled it myself. I was shocked when I got the bill.

When I got home I started looking at the details of the work listed on the bill and checking the tractor for the filters they said the replaced, they listed the hydraulic filter as changed but the one on the tractor still had crap on it from when I was moving the manure pile, they said they changed the oil in the front diff but the new paint on the filler plugs hadn't even been cracked and no wrench marks on the drain plugs they said they did a completed grease job and I found zerks that still had paint over the tip and not a spot of grease on them. I was some hot when I called the dealer back... the owner said he spoke the the mechanic and he claims he did all the work listed and he trust his staff. I have a friend of mine that is a mechanic look the tractor over and he said the same thing, a lot of the work was not done.

I logged a complaint with Mahindra and never got a response, I call another Mahindra dealer that is about 50 miles further away to see if I could start getting my work and warranty stuff transferred, I was told it would cost me $400 to buy my warranty from the current dealer and then transfer it.... up till now nothing has gone wrong with the tractor so I just put the issue aside, otherwise I may have ended up in jail for punching the dealer in the nose.

I now have a little over 200 hours on it and I've been buying my filters online and doing my own work, I have to do and oil change this weekend.

Hmm. Warranty transfer charges? Thought normal warranties are with the Mahindra Corp. not a specific Dealer warranty. What would happen if the dealer goes out of business? Something smells. Charging and collecting for services which were not done is considered fraud/theft around here. Thank you for your Service.

The warranty transfer charge didn't happen. I ended up going to a different dealer and there was no fee to have warranty work done.

Does the 2538 have a HST filter and a hydraulic filter or are these the same filter.
