yes. wouldn't dream of going 500 hrs for the 1st hyd oil/filter change on a tractor of that cost

Exactly. Lubricants and filters are the least expensive items on any tractor. Why cheap out, just don't get the economy in that.

So I cut the filters open and nothing was obvious bad looking. just a few very small flakes of brass as expected, some obvious dirt like you'd expect, some rubber gasket material.
As for not changing them sooner, I bought the machine used with 270 hrs on it. Asked the selling dealer to get it up to date on whatever was needed to be done and they did. The book does not call for the Hyd oil to be dumped/ filters changed till 500h so they didn't do it. I bought the machine 1500 miles away unseen. I likely should have done it as soon as it arrived but sort of trusted things had been done that needed to be. The engine oil had been for sure.
Just the Hyd oil/filter change on this machine is $500 for parts and oil. not expensive for a machine of this value but still not something ya just go doing willy nilly!
I'll be dumping the oil in 20-50 hrs and rechecking the filters to be sure.
I know the previous operation that had it used rear remotes a lot, and so do i. I suspect the previous operator likely didn't take care to clean the tips as well as they should have.

I make sure I change out the lubricants as specified in the service manual.

Yes, to some it seems wasteful, but it's more wasteful to go through an engine or transmission.

Thunder chicken
also given the hrs, etc you may consider changing the ft axle oil. it may be original fluid as well. for your area esp in winter, you may consider UDT but many (incl myself) switch to 80/90 gl5 hypoid gear oil. maybe get your dealer's recommendation on that. but definitely look into as the previous owner may have been negligent on the services. @ 500+ hrs, if the axle is still original factory fluid, it's overdue for change. good luck, sounds like you're doing your homework
btw after change, check ft axle level after few hrs use, usually the change requires topping off once the gear oil settles

yea.. the manual dose say 500hr on the m7060 for hydro filters. I was thinking of doing the hydro filters at 50 when I do my engine oil. I already bought them just to have. I think you made the case for changing them early in my mind.

The dealer said best thing to do was get the tractor with the rear end higher so you don't lose as much fluid. any recommendations? how much fluid did you lose?

Blaster, i just drained all the oil into a rubbermaid tote that i k ew would hold it all. i'm sure most of the oil
came out. i'm sure if you did have the rear higher, less would drain out.

I've ran about 15 hours since i changed the filters and am now heading on the road for work for a month.... had to order oil in as i didn't have time to drive 2.5 hrs to the nearest place that has kubota stuff. Of course delays meant the oil hasn't arrived yet, hopefully there's stock when i'm back, as i'll run a few more hours then change it all and update with what those filters look like!

5030, i agree with you, oil and filters are cheap. but this interval is following Kubota's recommendation. I don't have a local dealer for any type of ag equipment. nearest is kubota at 2.5 hrs for the toy dealer and 5 for the ag sized shop. Not sure how someone with no experience is supposed to know better than to follow what the manual says!

My 2009 Kubota M6040 had me change ALL filters at 50 hours. I changed ALL lube at 50 hours also. Oil & filters are cheap - tractors, not so much.

I insisted that all fluids and filters be changed on my m6800 at 50 hours. The local dealer said it was overkill but I did it anyway since that's what the manual said. Never missed the extra money and glad I had the peace of mind. I always have the oil changed on my new vehicles at 500 miles no matter what the manufacturer says. It just makes sense to me to get any extra metal flecks out of the system. It may be unnecessary but I do it anyway.

Same for my mx5800.

Change both hydraulic filters and engine oil and filter at 50 hours.

Very simple job in my case.
