TBN Gang,
This site has been so helpfull for me. I read all the Posts on a regular bassis. Yup, Im addicted!
Quick History- Bought a used B-2400HST a year or so ago. As much as i love this little Tractor, i need something much stronger/bigger.
My property is covered with Brazilion Pepper Trees (Very Invasive Shrub/Tree) Cabbage Palms and various Oak Species.
With the B-2400 i am able to up-root the smaller ones with the FEL (No Toothbar) up to 6-8 inch Diam.
Personally i feel the L39 would be the perfect set-up, dont think i could live without the HST Tranny though?
The L5030 HST is my next choice. Has anyone used a Grubber Bucket to remove brush / small trees? Also, is there a Ripper/Blade for cutting roots that attatches to the FEL?
Is the 5030 to much Tractor for 28 acres? I dont want to make the same mistake twice.
After clearing the property for some pasture and more building sites. There will be Bushhogging, Tilling, Plowing,Dirt Work and mowing. Perhaps some "Side Jobs" also.
If there is another Model that looks like it would be up to the tasks at hand 3830 or 4330 please comment.
SkyPup and CT Tree Guy have me all fired up on the 5030!
Thanks for thought or comments.

I have a 5030 with cab for 12 acres. It seems you can never have enough HP... After this past hot summer, I traded in the 4330 for a 5030 with cab! Now I can mow and mow and not complain about the heat!

Good luck,

Joe

Welcome to TBN!

I read all the Posts on a regular basis. Yup, Im addicted! I'd like to start off with my customary warning: Yes, TBN is highly addictive, and has been known to lead to the "hard stuff" - ACTUAL TRACTOR USAGE! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif So be careful! If you feel the urge to actually use a tractor, please call a friend, or PM me, and we'll try to help - you CAN beat this thing! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

As to: Is the 5030 to much Tractor for 28 acres? My short answer would be "no", and the longer answer would include an observation that with CUT's so much depends on what you're doing on those acres. I just recommended a 5030 to a guy with 4 acres because of what he was doing - but then again, I just recommended one to a guy who just needed to take out his trash once a week. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Just kidding on the last one, but really, it all depends.

A few thoughts, which will use up my quota for the day: If it sounds to you like the L39 is just the ticket, maybe it is. Don't sell the GST tranny short, SkyPup LOVES it, and I can see why. You're going to be doing a lot of ground-engaging, so unless you really NEED the HST (I do), you might be better off without it.

Plus, as much as I love my 5030, the L1000 loader and integrated backhoe on the L39 might be quite a combo for dealing with all those trees. Dig 'em out with the hoe and grab 'em with a nice grapple on that strong loader and you'll be styling. Check out Thom's L39 with Anbo brush grapple in the thread 5030 "skidder" pics - the "tree-bota" in action

That said, the 5030HST is awesome. The 853 loader is no slouch, and HST is of course great, especially Kubota HST. I might be dead by now without it, with all the hairy stuff I've had to do in really tricky spots. The control that you have is amazing.

You'd have a lot more HP with the 5030 naturally, but do you need it? Hard to say. You mentioned the smaller Grand L's, so maybe (probably?) you don't. Think on the L39 some more maybe? Or get them both? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Hope this helps, John
