I went to my local dealer today to price out a 5045D with the 553 Loader.

According to what I have seen on the JD website, the MSRP for the loader should be $5780, and everything looks like it should be included for attaching it to the 5045D.

According to the dealer, however, the 512 Loader comes with everything, but the 553 would require an additional $1200 (in hydraulics and control) to attach the loader to the 5045D, which would bring the 553 loader to right around $7,000!!!

I just reviewed the JD website and this does not seem right to me.

I'm hoping someone here has the 5045D with the 553 loader, and can confirm whether or not the dealer is correct in stating that the 553 loader is a $7,000 option as opposed to a $5780 option.

I have seen a thread on here, stating that a member here purchased a 5045D with the 553 loader for between $19K and $20K, which would lead me to believe that my dealer is mistaken.

Thanks for any input you may be able to provide.

I priced that tractor and loader last fall at a dealer that does not discount much at all and it was around $21,000.

I ended up buying a used 5210 and bought a new 553 loader for it. I paid $5,500 for the loader with a skid steer qiuck attach and heavy duty bucket. It came with the hoses. My tractor already had the joystick and two valves in the back of the tractor. The skid steer quick attach added $250. They priced the loader at $5,250 with the global attachment. This was cash and carry, no installation. By the way, the loader did not come from the dealer the tractor quote came from.

According to the JD website builder the 5045D does not come standard with mid mount valves and joystick it is a $1,137 option. The 553 loader price of $5,780 includes loader, hoses, all mounting hardware, installation, and a standard 66" bucket. Total msrp of $23,007.

That $1,200 figure is for the SCV s and joystick on the tractor, no John Deere loader comes with those.

Street price at 15 percent off of msrp should be $19,500 or better, will be higher if you add more options ( different tires, block heater, canopy etc.)

I just went through the build your own and did this exact configuration to get this price.

I think the 512 loader does come with the joystick and valve. It is attached to the loader arm and sticks back for the operator to use.

Don't know whether any of the loaders come with a mounted valve or not in Deere's lineup. But I would agree with the rest of this, and agree with the 15% discount structure, that should put you pretty close to the target price of 19k to 20k. I would also recommend you go with the better 553 loader in lieu of a 512.

Thanks guys - yes, Dusty, the mid mount valves and joystick is the piece that I was missing, and is the source of the extra $1200. Thanks for catching that for me.

Like Bullseye said, the dealer indicated that the 512 does include everything that is needed.

Thanks again for the clarification.

two things that caught my eye in this post.

1. I recently built a 553 loader with the 73" bucket instead of the 66" and it's only $115 more. Something you might want to consider. May I also suggest getting 2 or 3 hooks welded on top of your bucket by the dealer(they'll usually do this for free if you supply the hooks, or at least mine said he will). I was also told that the Deer style carrier was a little more heavy duty then the skid steer carrier and is compatible with ALL Deere attachments. I plan on just using the bucket on my tractor so I think the Deer 500 Attachment Carrier will suit me just fine.

2. I wonder what my adding a 553 loader will cost as I already have the mid-valves and joystick as well as loaded rear tires.

Your tractor is set up like mine was so the price should be about the same. You have a mid mount so you are better off, my remotes were in the back.

I put mine mine on myself. It was not that hard if you have a way to get the loader arms lowered down off the skid.
