Was quoted $26,900 for a JD 5055E w/FEL. Thoughts on price?

Also have a question on the John Deers quick attach. Wondering what people's experiences are with 3rd party attachments. Is it worth $300 to get Skid Steer instead or do most vendors support both set ups?

Thanks in advance for feedback.

I'd certainly get a quick-attach of some type, you'll like it and it will increase resale value and project versatility down the road. Skid steer style is ok, especially if you are planning on sharing attachments with your skid-loader. If this is not the intention, it's better to find a loader quick-attach with an automatic latch that reduces the trips off the tractor when swapping attachments. Also look for a v-shape or self-aligning connection, instead of a flat (skidsteer) style to maintain a tighter connection over a longer period of time with less wear. Did you price the tractor without a loader? As an aftermarket manufacturer of loaders, I know we offer same performance, lift, height and power, with more user-friendly features like quick-attach as standard components... most of the time for less money.

i paid 19,500 for a 5203 MFWD back in '08. a FEL for it would have run me about 5,000 more. i would say your price is in the ball park, perhaps a few hundred high...but i don't know how much prices have gone up since i bought mine in '08. your tractor and mine are the same hp though.

From calling around seems to be a decent deal. Have another call into a dealer. Based on reputation hoping to beat the price. We'll see.

I've noticed from other threads we're looking at similar machines. I'd be interested in knowing where you land.

Thanks

I have about 30 acres with about 12 that are fairly flat and need to be bush hogged every few weeks and the rest is slightly rolling woods, I am looking for a tractor to do the hogging and clearing more land and moving debris, like old fallen trees and such. I like the 5055 but others suggest the 4005? Any suggestions? This will be my first tractor thanks!

Khiggins, you might consider starting a new post, if you are looking for a comparison between these two tractors. You might also want to indicate if you are looking at the 2WD or 4WD 5055. If you are going to do much loader work go with 4WD. I would also look at getting a tooth bar, if you are going to use it to clear load. At a quick glance at the 4005, I would not purchase it, because transmission is collarshift (have to stop to shift gear and range), 35 HP PTO and 5055 is 45HP PTO. Not sure why you are going to be bush hogging every 2 weeks, so I thought you might find this URL of interest.

We have 40-acres in fields and 20 in woods. Similar needs to what you described. I got the 4WD 5055E. Delivered Saturday and I have been quite pleased with the decision.

Ordered a WR Long OBG-1 Root Grapple along with the 3rd function kit to go with it to help with the clearing. Hope to have that installed in a week or so. Will let you know how that works out.

5055E is a no frills solid machine. Works for me.

I have been kicking tires the last few years.I need in the mid-high 40 PTO HP.The older 5205 fit the bill.I see it has changed to a 5055E now. Both are 179 CI engines but now they are turboed. How come the older engine had same HP without the turbo ?

I believe the main function of the turbo on the 5055e is for cleaner emissions.

I checked out a 5045e today at the dealer, he told me today, with jd's deals he could sale it to me for 21,349.00, but that will likely go up to like 23,000.00 after the deal they have on them ends.. how much is the 5055e no options, just it being 4wd? how much more than the 5045e? thanks

I paid 26,900 with bucket and 0% interest. Mine is 4wd. Great tractor.
