Personally, when I deal with this issue I cut the wires off the sensor so some fool doesn't come along, hook it back up and start the problem all over again.
I ran my 5310 for over 10 years with it disconnected. It connects to the stud on the fuel shutoff solenoid on the injector pump. I took mine loose there and taped it up. It was like that when I sold it and I'm sure it still is.
If all these answers don’t convince you, take it from a pump guy.. unhook it, replace the fuse.. for years of trouble free operation..
