Re: \'51 Chevy sighted off Coast

i dont think they were trying to "sneek" into this country. i believe they were fleeing a horrible life. and to the rest of you remember there are members here of cuban heritage. you dont want to offend any of us do you?

Re: \'51 Chevy sighted off Coast

Aw, come on - Sneak is the right word. Don't go all PC on us. I grew up in the Southwest working with mojados and they are the greatest people in the world, but sneak in, they did.

By the way, one Spanish word for sneak is a lot like our word escape!

En boca cerrada no entran moscas! (A closed mouth gathers no flies!)

Sure was a shame losing a classic Chevy that way - Coast Guard has no heart!

Re: \'51 Chevy sighted off Coast

Personally, I fare better when I adhere to "A closed mouth gathers no foot".

I think we ought to get some judges and award points for most industrious, ingenious, etc. attempt at crossing. Maybe they can get a rush job on the paperwork and a boost towad technical training of their choice.

If that offends anyone, I ain't sorry. I think we should just open the floodgates and let Microsoft, MacDonald's, and Coca-Cola knock out Fidel like they did in Moscow.

But I'm just a knucklehead.

Re: \'51 Chevy sighted off Coast

Ad lib of the evening--

I was watching the story on the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather. He reported that after the refugees were picked up, the truck was left floating in the water. "The Coast Guard deemed it to be a hazard, so they had it sunk..."

He paused for a moment and added, "Like a rock."

I don't care much for Dan Rather, but I thought that was a rather amusing line!

Whoops! I guess I should read all of the posts before replying, because somebody else already siad the same thing!

Re: \'51 Chevy sighted off Coast

These same fellas who tried this in July with the 1951 Chevy truck just tried it again with a Buick last Wednesday.

Here's the link to the latest story at CNN.com
Buick boat

After a while, they're going to run out of cars to turn into boats. If they try it a third time, here's a suggestion--

PineRidge,
You get the feeling that it's too cold to do anything productive outside on the tractor today, and both of us have WAY too much time to spend on the computer! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
