5103 2wd vs 5500 4wd Mahindra

I just purchased a 5103 2wd with a 6ft bushhog new for about 13,600. I feel I got a great deal. My question is how does this tractor compare to the 55 horse Mahindra? My buddy has the Mahindra and he feels his is the better tractor. I think there is no comparison. Opinions anyone?

my neighbor across the street has a 5203 4wd john deere, i have a 4500 2wd mahindra. of course the 4wd is going to be better, but just comparing the two in general they both have different things that are better on the other. one thing for sure mine is prettier lol.....

engineering wise the 00 series is an older style than the deere, but on the other hand my tractor is a heck of alot more stable with a heavy load in the fel, even if my neighbor is useing a 3pt counter weight im still more stable (my back tires dont hop off the ground).........his is pretty to, i just like the red paint.

actually that may not be totaly accurate, its not like we have gone out side by side and compared in the feild, im just going by what he sais, and he is a bull in a china closet,,,,,,,,,were talking about a guy that shreds his pasture in 7th gear.

i have a buddy who has a 5500 4WD Mahindra with a loader and backhoe.....He used to help with heavy work at my farm and he ran into my new barn not paying attention and ran into the fence all in the same day....that was when i decided to get my own "big" tractor and quit asking him to help so i can relate to the bull in a china cabinet /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

just to add something.....mahindra makes a fantastic tractor for the money.....several friends own them. I went to Mahindra last Sat. to gather info on their tractors. I was actually leaning towards the mahindra. The salesman blew it. He treated my wife, who will be using the tractor from time time, like she did not exist. He did not acknowledge her and ignored her questions. If he did answer her question, he would look at me while answering it. He cost himself the deal....come to find out he was the owner. The Deere salesman spent near 2 hours with us, was polite, professional, honest, friendly and spoke to both of us. He let my wife drive both tractors (990 and 5103) and included her in all dialouge. Better yet......he was also the owner. I wrote this to explain I am not biased one way or the other. They both have excellent products. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
