I purchased a new 5105M in January and having shifting issues that JD can't seem to resolve. This issue was from day one but JD said to give it some time to "break in". I am new to JD with this purchase so some of my terminology may not be completely accurate to JD standards but here we go. The tractor has the 4 range transmission (ABCD) with 4 speed automatic (Quad speed?). It had 30 hours on delivery and I put 50 hours on it feeding this winter.

The issue is with shifting into A and B being very difficult requiring extreme sharp pressure on the stick to get it in gear. JD sent out a tech that replaced two shifting linkages that only made the issue worse. Now they say they may have to replace the whole transmission to correct the problem.

This is my first new tractor in 50 years of farming at various degrees so it is my first experience with warranty work or manufacturer defect. It worries me that we are getting ready for having season and I may be down a tractor for an extended time. What should I expect from JD during this time and how long should this take to fix?

I'm not happy about spending this much money on a tractor with issues this early but not sure where I go from here. Surely someone else on this forum has experience with similar issues and can advise me on what to expect. Thanks

You should expect the dealer to quickly take care of the problem, assuming you purchased it as "new".

30 hours is a lot for a NEW unit to be delivered with.

That said, if it's under warranty, their problem, hope it's resolved fast

Purchased as new. Been a lot of lookers is what I attributed the 30 hours to. The tech guy says the serial number was issued in late 2023 so it was delivered to the dealer probably a year ago.

A good dealership should be able to replace that transmission in less than two days if they have the parts in stock. They might provide a loaner but I wouldn’t count on this if only out of service for a couple of days.

Welcome to this forum
You probably need to have dealer repair your tractor. Has external shift linkage been lubricated?

at a minimum I would expect a loaner. 30 hours is a lot. sounds like you bought a demo or previous loaner tractor from them.

My 2018 & 2020 5115M has the ABCD shifter & separate 1234 shifter called a power reverser trans.
Not electric 1234 like your powerQuad option.

My A & B ranges are NOT synchronized like C&D ranges.

Requiring me to stop the tractor when changing into A or B.
I can go out of B range into C range while moving.
