Now.....Now Listen that is high quality scrap metal there. Problem is it just wasn't heavy enough. So that recycled keg (otherwise known as a redneck fuel tank) is filled with lead wheel weights. I figure that whole rig weighs about 1000 lbs. or so.

It will look better than economy real soon. I have a few cans of JD green left over from my last tractor. Soon as i get some time I'll pait it up real nice.

Now you have to understand my reasoning behind this. I live right in the middle of Lime Green country. Heck they even convinced a guy who has been sitting on top of a Long all his life to go Green. He just bought two of the things. My best friend is a dairy farmer and swears that it will be Green or nothing. I have been taking so much ribbing since I brought the tractor home. I have heard every joke you can think of. Including the fact that "they knew I was comming cause the smell of Curry was in the air"

So a couple of weeks ago I painted the 3pt hay spear I made JD green. Let me tell ya that did not go over good. Even better last weekend I stopped over my best friends house andd he told me that he was just about to call me. Seems his small JD loader that we use to put the round bales on the trailer at the field was broken . We wrap the bales at the farm, less damage to the wrap. He wanted to know if I would be willing to load the bales at the field. Had to borrow a QA bale spear for the front. Funny thing, 2 bales at a time the machine didn't even groan one bit All day long. Never herd on ethnic joke all day either.

No more worries about mating a Bradco subframe to a non-Bradco hoe. I finally found a 611. Pick it up Friday. Now I need to order the subframe and figure out what to do on the PTO pump and reservoir.

That's great news Bob! I am jealous! Can't wait to see the pix of that monster! Just remember to go big on the PTO pump rating so you can meet the 611's hydraulic flow requirements at something less than rated engine RPMs for 540 RPM PTO speed.

Are you using the bradco pto pump ? I would recommend skipping them and just buying a prince. If you've read any of my backhoe posts in the past you'll note that the bradco pumps can be a royal pain. As far as I know the tank is fine. A tank is a tank. That is the only trouble I have ever had with my setup is the pto pump.

Yeah, I do the same thing while downloading photos, I go do something else. I use Netscape for my browser, as I do not like Internet Explorer. I can not right click to resize a photo.

All Windows XP users can easily (and temporarily) resize photos for
emailing purposes. I do not know if Vista supports that, and Macintosh
users, who knows? Just view your JPG files in the Windows Explorer,
right-click the one you want and choose SENDTO and follow the
directions. No need to use photo-editing s/w or browser. Easy.

Just saw a huge Prince PTO pump mounted on a Massey yesterday. What a beast!

I don't know from personal experience if Prince pumps are good or bad... but I do know that you can get them in cast iron and in quite a size range. That latter feature is a very good thing if you aren't into running your tractor's engine at full rated RPMs just to get the backhoe to work.

Given the Bradco gets "optimum performance with 9-12 gpm hydraulic systems", the 17.1 gal. pump should work fine with the tractor running at 1,400- 1,500 rpms. (At 1,500 rpms, the pump should put out a little over 12 gpm.) I think, I want to stay away from the 21 gal. pump, as the increased flow will generate more heat.

I'm going to talk to the Mahindra dealer about pump requirement and get a price on the hydraulic reservoir. I've found several reservoirs on the net with varing sizes and mounting flanges. I'll have to see if Mahindra price is comparable. If not, I'll wait until I get the subframe installed and see what I have for space and how one can be mounted.

Hi Bob - Remember that you're not dealing with a 511... but a 611. The "optimum performance" range for the Bradco 600-series machines is not 9 to 12 GPM as it is for the 500-series... but 11 to 14 GPM. I'd assume that the bypass setting is also increased 2 GPM (+/-) from 14 GPM to maybe 16 GPM. Check it out:

Thanks for bring that to my attention. The 611 brochure I have says 9-12 gpm. It is probably 3 - 4 years old. I guess I'll have to reconsider the 21 gpm pump. I'll be interested to see what my Mahindra dealer says on pumps. He has handled the Bradco line longer than the Mahindra line and seemed be be acquainted with the 611.

Bob I originally ordered my 511 without a pump. After telling the dealer I wanted a pump they had to scramble to get the right parts. Not sure how easy it is to convert to a pump setup after the fact so you might check on that as well. Also, when the pump is installed on the pto, there is very little clearance between the pump and the back of the pump resivior so if you buy something other than bradco's pump you'll just want to make sure it will fit in that space. I can measure mine if you like, for example, measurement from drawbart mount etc.

Bradco ships with a crappy pto extension. I bought a coated aftermaket one that doesn't rust so it is easier to take on and off. has a yellowish shiny look to the metal.

I like the idea of a prince pump for the simple fact that they are readily available. It is really hard to find information on the pump that bradco uses. I run my system a little under pto speed and it works great. Kinda depends on what you are doing at the time. Too fast and you are riding a bull.

Hi Bob - I'm guessing that when all the calcs are done and checked, you will end up buying the larger pump.

Yes, there are old and current websites out there with incorrect numbers for the 609/611. The PDF file I linked is the current spec direct from Bradco.
