520H only runs on 1/2 choke...

I have a 520H with an Onan engine and had thought the fuel pump was bad earlier in the seasnon, now the engine surges unless you use 1/2 choke, i checked the gov adj like the book says and it was fine, dirty carb? Thanks

I would start by cleaning the carb. Sounds like there may be some debris in one of the jets causing it to run lean.

I found taking the air filter off for access to the carbeurator and using compressed air to blow out every orifice you can find will clear the carbeurator and it will run fine. be careful you will spray out gasoline, atomizing it, making it highly explosive. I had to do this on two occasions and on two different 520H's and the tractors runs fine now. Beats taking the carbeurator off and cleaning it.
