I don't own one but I have a buddy who's had one for a few years and he has been happy with it. His only regret was not getting MFWD. I don't know about the electric MFWD switch. I've always been leery of that myself but I can't imagine it would make or break your decision. Good luck!

It is automatic shift on the go MFWD it wont break most of my tractors have this function. Just don't use MFWD on roads or any surface that's hard and smooth.

IIRC defualt for MFWD is engaged if the solinoid fails, so don't worry about not having it when you need it.

I have had a 5525, MFWD, 12/12 tranny, pwr reverser, for five years now and it has been trouble free for me so far.

Did you buy it used or new? It looks like on their website they have stopped making that model. I have wanted that same tractor for some time. Had one found, but didn't pull the trigger. Wish I would have, because now it is gone.

I purchased a new 5225 with 542 FEL in 2006. It has been absolutely trouble free! I love this machine. Has plenty of power for my needs of mostly mowing and dirt work although I do disk and plant several 1/2 acre food plots. Also use a set of pallet forks for lifting. I fabricated a bracket and digging bucket for the FEL that I use to dig up stumps and drag it to do drainage work. Would really like a back hoe but don't have one yet.
