Finally my new 5252 (60" MMM, FEL) arrived.......I just hope its enough tractor for my relatively flat 1 acre lot. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

In my first day I've already had a neighbor ask me over to move a large rock from his yard, while his JD LT 150 watched helplessly from the garge.

First impressions are very favorable. Seems like a solid tractor.

Question - The Cub Cadet web site does not list a bagger available for the 5000 series tractors - only the "Mow and Vac" system.

Has anyone had luck using a bagger from another manufacturer? I know a lot of the other sub compacts offer triple bagger systems on their tractors.

Has anyone had any experience with the Mow and Vac system? Does this work well? Does it have a separate motor? About how much does it cost?

Are there many 5000 series owners in this forum? I don't see many posts for the 5000 series tractors.

Congrats on the tractor. You'll find that a lot of people will hit you up for a "buddy job" now that you have a tractor! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Ohh well... more seat time!

I have a 5234D...almost 2 years now. Have not used the Mow and Vac. The 60" MMM cuts very well.

I have a 5252, going on my second season with it and am really happy with the way it cuts. I had a Mow N Vac that I purchased from TSC 4 or 5 years a go for leaf collection, If you have a lot of leaves, this is a great way to go. The capacity of the trailer is over 1 yard and I believe it was about $900.

Everything I've read suggests you should not collect the clippings unless the grass gets away from you. They are returned to the soil as nitrogen and are another means of fertilizing on a regular basis. They contribute next to nothing to the accumulation of thatch.

With that being said, I'll use the mow and VAC whenever the cut is going to leave excessive clippings behind. The Mow and Vac does a great job picking them up.

It has a 5HP gas engine mounted on the yoke of the trailer. The down side is the loss of maneuverability, it's a pretty long rig. But at least it's narrower than the deck!

I'm just about to turn 100 hours on my 5252 and the only problem I've had is the throttle failing to stay put. It was in the shop last year for that and is developing the same symptoms now. The RPM's drop off as you're mowing, I'll need to figure out the fix for this as my warranty is up after this year, and it's a pain to haul it back in.

I'm really impressed with the fuel efficiency, it does almost twice the amount of mowing on the same amount of gas as my older 1872.

And the turning radius is fantastic.

The deck is a little tougher to get on and off and I wish the mid and rear PTO's had independent controls because to take the deck off to use the three point is a lot of work.

But if I had it to do over, I'd buy the tractor again.
