1960 Case 430, 1947 Ford 8N, 1942 Ford 9N [not running], 5252 Cub Cadet to cut the lawn, John deere 140 , Sears SS12, Crafsman 5000GT, and a Gravley 816 which may be the most rugged tractor that I have ever seen.
Just got my new 5252 about a month ago and like it alot. I cut the lawn the other day after long week of rain so the grass was realy long. The machine cut it great but left the cuttings on the lawn. I special ordered a boot for the discharge so I could connect my cyclone rake. Well last Saturday I made a nice bracket for the hitch but when it came to mount the boot, it seems that I would have to remove the casters on the right side. Does anybody know of a good quailty boot that will fit and still keep the casters? I got the boot from my cc dealer but did not get intouch with him as yet. Joelaudi

Hey Joe,

I have an MTD Mow-n-vac that I hook up to my 5252. I'll try and get a picture posted of the boot and deck.

I don't understand why the casters need removed, especially since its a Cub boot. A ground following deck can't be operated without the casters.

Hey Joe,

Here's a picture of the boot. I actually used a largwe hinge but you get the idea. It works out well because I can remove it by pulling the hitch pin from the rod and taking it off. A quick connect!

If you want it, I can get the MTD part number from the manual, I think.

Thank for the photo of the boot. I guess I did not explain properly the first time. The boot that I ordered from my dealer was not OEM, but one that is made of heavy steel that was made to fit my 8 inch discharge hose. I think the one that the fits the cub was made of plastic and not very rugged. After looking at the posted pics it will be easy to modify my steel boot to fit. I never thought of using the pin from the deflector. A little trim here and weld there will do the trick! Thanks for the response and again this is simply the best site I have found to date Joelaudi
