Replacements are good enough, just wondered what happened what happens when the time comes. I'll pass the info off to the neighbor. Over here, tilling 5 acres or so will eat up a set of blades in 3-4 years. DG is hard on any tiller.

How long does it take to till 5 acres? That sounds like a big project!

Not bad, about a days work. My tractor has to run in first gear low range @2400 RPM. If I don't have to answer the phone, 8 hours and 5-6 gallons of diesel later. Howard HR-8 5 foot tiller. Over here, I do it for weed control. After tilling will run a compaction roll 7' wide over the ground ( 2400 lb. ) and hope for a rain storm to form a top crust. Cheaper than spraying Round-up twice a year. Side benifit is tilling in horse manure with it to build up the soil on ground that is farmed out hay field. Plan to plant as pasture when there is enough soil restoration.
