\'54 Ford stalls out on an incline

My grandfather has a 1954 Ford model NAA. (He doesn't have an internet connection; I'm posting this for him.)
The tractor runs fine except on inclines, then it stalls out on him. He can back up the hill in reverse without a problem, but can't make it up going nose first.

Check the float level in the carburator. The Model T was like that also...... you had to back up hills if you wanted to get to the top.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Does it have a gravity feed fuel system?

How steep?

As the junkman says chek the carb , seems to be a fuel problem when the tractor is in the nose up position. also check the fuel filter.

they are gravity feed systems......... another thought is that the tank might not have enough fuel in it to feed when at an angle. Depends on where the take off is located in the tank...

Right side of the tank.. roughly int he middle, on an edge.

My guess would also be a float issue.. possibly even flooding it out.. etc. Or startving it if the float is 'heavy'

Does it have a Cork Float ? If not out of adjustment, could be laden with fuel...

You could also check the settling bulb for air or water just a thought.
