What size is the zerk under the front axle(2wd) pivot point?
Mine won't take grease. I have read the threads on this subject where others have this problem, but saw no definite solution. One suggestion is to change the zerk. Thought I would buy one and take it with me to the tractor(10 miles from house) and have it to screw right in. You folks on this site are very helpful, Thanks very much.

Not sure on the size...but on my machine I have to take the weight off the front end with the loader before the pivot will take grease. Worth a try for you as well.

Kenny, thanks. I'll try that.

Kenny, thanks. I'll try that.

I don't have a FEL, so I jacked up the front with a bottle jack under the front axle to get both front wheels off the ground. Squeezed the grease gun, but looked like most of the grease just came out around the gun nozzle. Maybe if I try again when the temps warm up the grease might go in, maybe?

Well. sounds like it may just be a bad zerk then...I believe they are just standard sized SAE ones.

Dried grease...
You might be able to break it through with enough pumping. Always good to have a few extra zerks fittings around though. They're pretty cheap. Just get a variety of straight, 45°'s and a 90° or two.
If you have a decent capacity air compressor, a pneumatic grease gun is a nice tool to have.

If you are stopping by the parts store pick up a SAE as well as a metric. They are cheap and it would be disapointing that you find that there is a metic one in there, 10 miles from home. Just a thought. Ken

Bought a pack of zerks this morning and drove to the property. Removed the zerk from the tractor, gripped it with vise grip, and put the grease gun on it and shot grease right through it. I put it back in. Had the wrong size new zerks anyway. The tractor was serviced last July, so it shouldn't be an "old grease" problem...probably just needs more pressure. Maybe I can borrow a pneumatic gun. Thanks for the help.

you have to jack it up under the frame so the whole axel hangs to take the pressure off of it. just putting the jack under the axel and raising the wheels does not accomplish anything. hope it works. bud

bud, thanks. That explains why it works for kenny using the FEL.
I'll do it tomorrow, and report.

I misread what you wrote...I though you did that but I see you did say that you jacked it form the axle. When I do mine-the tires are off the ground and the axle is just hanging form the pivot.
