I’ve got a new YM347 and a 6’ shredder. My first cuts have been with std. 540 PTO. I am not familiar with 540E and would like to hear from those that have been using it. My tractor runs PTO at high RPM’s and I would say its good on fuel with 540 anyway.

Std 540 @ 2783 rpm
540E @ 2016 rpm

Thanks for all your comments.

540E is what I use for the most part. Brush cutting, tilling, etc. Really makes a difference in fuel consumption and noise.

Engine handles it perfectly fine.

On my tractor, I get about 4 hours more of runtime in a full tank while using 540E.

To be fair, most jobs can be done in 540E if one doesn't mind going a bit slower.

Interesting... Never heard of 540E until now. Does look like a neat feature. I'd try running it and see if you're still able to cut like you normally would. Or what changes you'd need to make to get a satisfactory cut.

I have the option of 540E on my tractor, but I've never used it. I'm pulling a 12 foot batwing with a 70 hp tractor, and when I'm mowing, it's pretty thick, so I want all the power that I can get. My dealer suggested that it would be good for maintaining areas that are not too over grown, but I never have enough time to keep up with everything, so I tend to mow when the grass and weeds are several feet tall.

I use my 540E quite often, on the pto generator it works fine, i've used it with an 8 ft brush hog often, it works excellently on a hay tedder, or on a pto powered spray rig, my hydraulic boom arm mower works good with it.

Kinda what I was thinking. Thanks.
