I have used three different types of "quick mount" plows with hydraulic left/right angle. The first was a homemade mount to take a plow (old style three hole Fisher) and use a homemade set of forks, pole for lifting, trailer hitch, and several chain attachment points. I used this on a 28 hp Challenger tractor. Worked great going straight, horrible to turn or angle plow because it pushed the front end. I also used it on my 33 hp Challenger. A nice improvement with the larger tractor, but still pushed the front end during heavy snow.
Next up was a Kubota
L4240. I used that plow a couple times with it. Then the plow was getting very well worn. I looked around and came across the HLA line of plows. I looked into trying to build a similar frame. Then I found a used 90" HLA plow and bought it. The plow sits closer to the q/a mount. The plow is designed to allow the blade to follow the crown of the road. This plow really improved the plowability of a FEL.
This year the
L4240 was traded and a new
M7060 arrived. I went with a larger HLA (3000 series) plow and it is 108" wide. The new tractor really handles it well. I am still getting use to the blade angle to avoid very aggressive edge contact and when I have it right then the curves of the driveway are easily plowed. This tractor also has studs in the front tires to help with traction.
All the tractors had chains (Kubotas had Tyrggs and Challengers had H pattern chains from tirechains.com) and loaded rear tires. They also had rear implements to help with more weight and usually were used to help remove snow. I now run a 96" rear blade. Before I used a box blade with concrete blocks or a snow blower.
I think that unless you have a huge heavy tractor you will most often be able to push the front of the tractor around with a plow on the fel. I really wanted one of the HLA wing box plows, but the weight of the proper size was likely too much. Not to mention the added cost.

As should be the norm....here is the current tractor setup.
