What on earth could be happening? I have a new 5500 and
immediately broke the spring that holds the clutch up. I got
another and it broke. Got a third and after 5 or 6 hours it
broke. I see no sharp edges on the connections. It does take
alot of effort to snap the new ones on. Lastly I got a spring
from TSC and it has lasted the longest. What's up???
Thanks.

Are you refering to the spring that connects to the clutch pedal underneath the floor board? Where is the spring breaking? Is it at the hook end or in the spring itself?

If it is at one of the hookends, perhaps there's a rough spot in the hole the hook goes into. I'd check that first.

I spoke with our tech department and they haven't heard of any problems with this external spring.

Thanks for responding. It's at the hook end-I'll
check the holes to make sure it's not a burr or
something.
