Wow, that hole sounds small for a tree that size!
I have a Danuser hydraulic post hole digger I mount on my backhoe and have quick disconnects on the bucket curl lines.I can sit in the seat and use the bucket curl and dump controls to operate the post hole digger.
It sit me back around $1800including a 9 and 12 inch auger.

I'm with you. Hydraulic PHD is the way to go even though more expensive than the pto-driven PHDs. Only in my case it'll be mounted on the side of the FEL bucket of my 5525 with the ML250 FEL. With this setup you can see what the PHD is doing, get downforce on the auger and, IMHO, work a lot safer.
