5xxx weak rear axles?

How/Why would R-1's on pavement be hard on rearends?

i would think the grip R1's offer and the tendancy for less slippage on pavement, thus causing more stress on the rear axle. take a 2wd(or MFWD) tractor with R1's and rear ballast and push into a pile on pavement. i'll see you in the repair shop before long:(

Just to bring this thread back around to the OP's question (hey, that was me!) - There are things you can do to break just about any component of any tractor, the question was:

Are the rear axles on the 5xxx Deeres a weak point?

So far the consensus seems to be there's no evidence of this...

honestly, there are many on this forum who own this series of tractor and i think if it was an issue we would see thread after thread about it. i havent seen or heard a thing.
