Hey, you know they killed "Mr. Goodwrench"? No kidding. Internal memos went around GM management Monday and "Mr. Goodwrench" is dead. I'm not sure if they'll announce it before January or not, but no more Mr. Goodwrench. Each GM brand will have their own segregated mechanics.
Personally I think it's a bad move. It leaves the impression that if you have a GMC, you have to take it to a GMC dealer only. That's exactly what the dealers wanted, but I don't think it's a good perception for customers. For the record, yes, a Chevrolet (it's now 'no-no' to call them a Chevy for GM employees) dealership for work. All of this is part of the attempt of GM to distance themselves from the "Old GM" that robbed everyone blind on stocks since the "New GM" is going to have their IPO within the next month or so and wants to get between $26 and $29 a share for their stock. Being that I have a few thousand shares of the "Old GM that are worth about $0.22 a share now (for all intents and purposes worthless), it will be a cold day before the "New GM" sees a penny from me. Most are predicting these mind game moves won't work and their IPO will be a flop because of how many millions of people got burned for billions of dollars by GM.
