Yeah...they only put 7.3s in for the first half of 03. Hold out a bit longer and I'm sure one will pop up. Wouldn't trade my 7.3 for anything. Never had an issue except for having the transmission built, but that was more 200,000+ miles of abuse, and the one I have in it now is rock solid. Have a 6.0 as well that has been relatively trouble free.

yep.. waiting and keeping looking.

my 'must have' 'target' is a 7.3 psd, 4x4, DRW, auto trans..1999-2003

add to that a list of 'soft wants'

cd player, extended or full crew cab, vs standard cab. and milage under say.. 140K

wouldn't mind the lariat leather package.. but again.. cloth interior is fine...

Yes, diesels in order for Ford pickups were:
6.9 Non Turbo International about 1984/5- 1987

7.3 Non Turbo International 1987-1993

7.3 International with factory installed turbos, ATS I believe. (very short run) 1993-1994

7.3l PowerStroke 1994-2003

6.0l PowerStroke 2003-2007

6.4l PowerStroke 2008-2010

6.7l PowerStroke/Scorpion 2011-N/A

Gas motors available in the 250/350 for the pre 99s were 300 inline six, 302 V8, 351 V8, 460 V8

Gas motors from 99-2010 were the 5.4l V8 and the 6.8L V10. The 2011 model year has just the 6.2l V8 available in the pickups.

A neat way to tell the 7.3l and the 6.0l apart at a glance, since they had the same look 2002-2004, Is the badge on the door stating it is a PowerStroke is different. Take a look and see.

Don't tell me you're looking to get rid of that F-450 of yours? You've got a beast of a truck in that F-450, but I suppose if you'd rather have something else, variety is the spice of life. Good luck in your search.

who said I wanted to get rid of it?? I want to get a daily driver.. which the f450 ain't.

and my dodge daily driver is slowly giving up the ghost, and isn't worth repairing any more. Any repair that costs as much as a battery will be worth more than the truck is...

thus I'm keeping my eye out for a replacement. I like the 450 so muh that a 350 is sounding like a reasonable replacement.. plus gives me a backup good towing truck, with an engine I will be able to trucst, and be a bit familiar with.

Yep.. it's a 99 with a 7.3

it's a decent truck. hauls great. no speed demon with a 4.88 rear end though. 70mph is about 2700 rpm.. considering it redlines at 3400.. I don't go much over about 72 :)

I also run ful syn valvolene ultra blue oil in t he engine, and syn PS, tran and diffy oil too.. since it gets a workout when towing.

Don't feel bad, my '08 F-450 Pickup is speed limited to 81 mph, even though it has the 4.30 axle ratio. They did that because of the commercial rated tires on 19.5 wheels.

81 :) i don't think my f450 will ever see 81 unless it's on t he bed of a rollback or trailer, going down the interstate.. towed by something else.. :)
