Tiller 6' King Kutter tiller owners, how many HP do you drive with?

I have a 5' woods with a 3130 Kubota HST wish I had a 6'.
Isn't the rule of thumb 5 PTO horse per ft? same as brush cutter?

I cant answer your question on the tiller but if your not already on tsc mailing list you might want to think about it. I sighed up a couple of weeks ago and got a 10% off coupon in the mail yesterday.:D

I might look for a 5' unit with sideshift ability to cover your tracks. I don't know how much your going to be tilling but it would take a couple more passes and not be stressing your tractor near as much.

I bought a five foot KK because of the same concerns you have, it was a mistake, I sold it and moved up to the six, I use it on a 37 HP tractor 32 at the PTO and the six works great on it

If you buy a 6' tiller, you can remove tines if it is too wide or too hard to operate. You can't add tines to a 5' tiller. Most likely, you would not need to remove tines, but the 6' does give you that option.

I have a 6 ft behind my TC40. I've been in all kinds of soil types and have never had any problems with lack of power. Some times you have to drive slow enough to let the tiller do a good job of pulverzing the soil.
Good luck in your purchase.

In my opinion, based on my experience with different tractors and tillers, 3.5hp/ft is about as low as you want to go. If you have 5hp/ft, that's getting to be a real hotrod of a tiller ;)!!
