Tiller 6' TSC Tiller repair

   / 6' TSC Tiller repair #11
I have a Howard HX rototiller that is probably about 20 years old. The tines on it are completely worn out. It was used in sandy soil with some rocks. The sand really eats tines. It will cost me about 300+ dollars to replace all the tines. However the rototiller is in great shape here is my tiller. I repainted it and cleaned it up. Now I am saving up for blades. I would get it for as cheap as possible and then consider rebuilding it if it is cost effective if not then you have spare parts. View attachment 158156

Sportsman I have an old Woods tiller that I will let you borrow if you promise to return it like the after picture. Looks good.

Thanks I did that during my Christmas break. The neighbor gave it to me so that it would no longer set in her lawn rusting. I do not have enough barn space for it so now it gets moved outside and covered with a tarp sadly. I hate Valspar (TSC) paint it is soft and takes forever to dry but Rustoleum (I think I spelled it right) was not available in the orange I wanted. The only problem is that my 8N is not geared low enough to use a tiller. I will eventually get a new tractor.

Can I ask how you got all the rust off? Kind of big to put inside a sand blaster.

I used a 4.5" angle grinder with a knotted wire wheel to clean the rust off. I am not fortunate enough to have access to a sandblaster. I did use my friends harbor freight sand blast cabinet to clean the springs for the slip clutch. It took a long time to wire wheel but it is the only way I have.

Nevertheless you did a great job with it, looks great.
