I was looking at the OECD fuel test figures the other day, and the 4 litre JXs came out pretty good for fuel efficiency. They actually seemed more efficient than the 4.5 litre engines they seem to be changing over to, first in the JXU and now in the bigger capacity JX Farmall. Worse thing about the little 60 of mine, is that it is fairly high revving and so is pretty loud - it's not a bad sounding engine though and the db ratings seem comparible to other rops tractos. They have decreased the engine speed at rated power on the 4.5 litres from 2500 to 2300 on the new model JXU and T5000s, also added a intercooler, so it would be interesting to see the tests for them now. Lot of the Tier II 70-100hp tractors from all brands seem to be disappointing when it comes to specific fuel consumption.
