60" Deck Belt

I have a BX2350 with a 60" deck. The manual for the deck says to release belt tension for winter storage. The problem is it doesn't really tell you how to do it. I can roll the belt off the outer pulley to get it lose. I can get the belt back on by sitting down beside the deck and putting my foot on the tension pulley and yanking the belt back over the outer pulley, but it seems difficult and a good way to get my finger caught. Is there a correct to do this?

I got my bx2300 in 2002 with the 60" deck.
I have never messed with the tension adjustment.
I also have never had a problem.
I'd just leave it alone.
Right now it's stored for the season, just hope I didn't jinx myself.

I have a B2100 with a 60" deck. I release the tension on my drive belt by taking it off of one of the pulleys each winter. I place a large, heavy screwdriver between the belt and one of the pulleys and "walk" the belt off as I slowly turn the belt on the deck. I think it is supposed to be done to minimize the any damage to the belt while it sits in one position with tension on it over the winter.

I have just purchased a new belt to replace the original belt (10 years old) when it goes back into service next spring. My thought is that if you replace your belt more often than every 10 years, what difference does it make??
