Rear Blade 60" heavy duty rear blade sugestions?

All my local dealers beat ET on price. They say shipping is free, but it is built into their price, which is why my dealers beat them. If they have something you like, and no dealer near you to buy it, go for it.

But what brand and model blade are you talking about? The Rhino 500 series is about the closest in specs (although arguably not as good because EA made improvements to that basic design). They tend to cost about what the EA models do, but they're quite a bit lighter. My 8' EA was 575lbs, and the 8' Rhino is 425lbs.

Cool, I am going to call around this week. I like buying local and a 6 foot blade should be pretty common so hopefully there are some in stock

Most tend to be much lighter, at least that's what I found when I started calling around, and I wouldn't mind if mine was another 1-200lbs heavier.

Leons Mfg - North American Agricultural Equipment Manufacturer I don't work for them but have one of their heavy rear blades . I can tell you is that it is for big boys. Extremely well made, finished, and totally stout and operable. I saw it at an auction twenty years ago in a row with other ones of totally lesser construction. I set my eyes on it, bid the heck out of it and was never sorry I came home with it. If you see their website and other materials, it is clear they build some nice stuff. You can always find something cheaper I am sure, but better, I doubt it.

Woods, Land Pride or Bush Hog. heck, even the Frontier branded stuff which is the same in green.

What kind of material will you expect the blade to move?

My main goal is to smooth bike trails in the hardwood forest. I plan to clean most of the trail with a min ex then use the blade to grade and smooth out the soil. I have been using an 8' woods york rake with the blade that flips down. The blade works Allright but not great. What got the whole thread started was me looking at some real flimsy one on Craigslist. I want something sorta stout as there is the occasional rock and plenty of roots. The grading I will be doing will be in low range and with me looking at the blade almost the whole time so I can ajust the depth when I come to a rock or larger root.

I'm sure there are heavier blades than I have, but mine doesn't do much at all as far as cutting and it likely has more to do with the design rather than the weight. Late last summer during a project I picked up a box blade. That was a lot more capable than the scraper blade. It has a half dozen teeth that can be dropped to break up ground that the blade just skids over. The box blade also carries fill along and drops it in the hollow spots. It's a really handy tool.
