My local dealer (Longview, Texas) has quoted me $560 for a new 60" Land Pride 2560 fixed blade box scraper. What do y'all think of that price? Does it seem pricey to anybody else, or do I need to adjust my thriftyness level?

I bought a Woods GB72 (72") in November 2004 for $625 at a local Chattanooga, TN dealer. From what everyone is saying, prices have climbed even more for 2005. The price you have sounds reasonable for a Land Pride box scrape. Land Pride is very good equipment...some of the best.
If you didn't need one right now, you could try to find a used one for a good price. Good luck!

For your consumption.

List price on a Woods 60" is $749 plus $107 steel surcharge.

We sell these for $539 plus the $107 steel.

I think you are getting a good price for a Land Pride. If you think it is too much, maybe you will have to consider a KK. The specs look good on that model and it is a name brand.

I picked up a one year old Woods HB-60 (60" hinged back blade) box scraper in Oct '04 for $550. It had been sitting at the dealers yard for a year or so, and shows it in surface rust on the rippers & chiped paint on the corners, so he "parted with it for cost". I got quotes for off brand fixed box scrapers that were as almost as high, so I took the Woods.

Steel prices are almost as bad a crude prices.
