60\" MMM Can you drive on it??

Well I finally got my deck hooked up. thanks to all on my prior post. I will get some pictures and attache them to that post for future reference for others. Anyway this deck is impossible to slide under my 4115. Even if you turn the 2 back wheel sideways, The front roller wheel prevents it from sliding. So you have to bust you back getting it under there. Is there an easy way?? Can you drive over it?? Surely deere didnt want us to slide a 350 pond deck against the wheels did they?? See the attached picture.

I have no trouble sliding mine.
I turn the 2 back wheels sideways, grab under the left side and push it under. Turn the front wheels on the tractor full LEFT also.
I would not drive over that deck.

I agree with Kenny do not drive on the ramp. I guess thats why JD came out with the on ramp. AT first I thought on-ramp was a little silly but may turn out to be very usefull on the bigger machines. My 54"mmm on my 4010 goes under pretty good as long as I have the wheels cranked to the left and I push the deck in on the right.Have you tried going in on an angle then straitening it out once you have it under the machine??

Good Luck. Thanks for the pics!

No I haven't tried doing it at an angle. The problem I seem to have is when I turn the 2 back wheels, thats great for the back. but then in the front center where the long anti-scalping wheel is, It makes it difficult to slide. I did this on a concrete driveway so maybe this made it a little more difficult do to the rough finish on my driveway. If the front center scalping wheel would of been made to swivel some way, You could push this deck a lot easyer. Thanks for the info, I wont drive on the deck.

Re: 60\" MMM Can you drive on it??

One thing you might think about is to buy a set of the car maintenence ramps that you can get at the local auto parts store. You can then raise the front of the tractor to get the mower underneath. As long as the ramps are not too high, you can still hook up the attachment points. If that does not work, you can tie a heavy duty tow strap to the mower underneath the tractor and slowly back the tractor up. The mower will slide with it and then you can hook it up. This is a little trick I learned with my old 595. Even though the 62C mower is not as heavy as yours it still was a back breaker to get under the machine consistently. This trick works well and was a snap. I would pull the tractor on the ramps, slide the mower under, hook a small strap up and back off the ramps. The mower was centered and then just hook up and go.

Do you have a FEL? Lift the front end up with the FEL lower it when the deck is in place. That deck is not made to drive on.

Yep, the FEL is a great solution for this! Did this for almost two years until I could figure out exactly how to turn the wheels and get the correct angle to slide the MMM under the tractor! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
