60\" Mower Blade Tip Speed.

I remember a conversation several months ago about the hypothetical blade tip speed of the Power-Trac 60" mower. As part of the belt post, I looked up the speed of the Gresen motor at 8 rpm. I believe this speed to be 3187 RPMs based on 1000 RPMs for each 2.51 GPMs flow. The length of the Power-Trac blade is about 20.5 inches. Therefore the circumference of the blade turning one complete revolution is 20.5" X 3.1459, or 64.49". Multipling 64.49" X 3187 and dividing by 12 yields 17,128 Feet per Minute blade tip speed. Correct?

that would seem correct to me - also that is not that bad
- the fastest commercial ones are 18500 fpm but that is for the larger decks with 25inch blades

Everything looks good to me.

Now why didn't PT know this specification. Last fall I called them about the 425's 60" deck, they weren't able to answer this. Since 17k'/min is pretty good, you think they would include this in there specifications.
