A 50 hour service on the average New Holland compact tractor should take a reasonably talented mechanic (I can call them that, I are one) not over one hour start to finish. Engine oil & filter, fuel, hydraulic & hydro filters, grease tractor & loader, check clutch & brake adjustment, check air filter, replace if (seldom) required. Check wheel hardware torque and air pressure. Check & top off power steering oil, hydraulic oil and front axle oil. Check antifreeze protection & coolant level. Visual check of entire machine ongoing throughout the process. Done. First time for a technician on a particular tractor model gets an extra half hour. Any other work should be submitted for warranty or billed additional to the 50 hr service. Yes, the quote you were given is a ripoff. And guys who read my posts know I don't say that much here.
