6011 Break test.

1/8-inch Hobart's 335A 6011, took 8-blows from a 4-pound hammer.

That is basically the only rod I use (I layed my first bead with it) I am going to try to work afterschool with our tombstone to try and get a weld as good as that. (that will take a while, I normaly can bread my welds with 3 or 4 blows with a 2 pound hammer)

I like these welds better, but they are 6010.

I have never been able to make a 6013 work well for me, they just cause a ton of splatter and make a mess, any tips?

I'm not a fan of 6013 myself. Sometimes it will run better on DCEN, not sure I've ever tried it on AC or not. Only things I can suggest is to keep a close arc length, and more rod angle than you would with 7018 or 6011.

Ahhh ok, I have been trying to use it like a 6011, I cant seem to be able to keep a close enough arc.

6013 should be very easy to run. If you are having problems with what you have, go find a small 1-2 lb box of another brand of 6013 and try that. It should lay down so easy as to make you look like a genius welder, IMHO (not that my opinion counts for much in the welding world). Just strike and draaaaaggggg
