The 1/8" 6013 rod runs differently than the 3/32 on this welder. This is at 125A. I'm setting the dial equal to the rod dia. I have no idea if the digital amp meter is accurate or not and I don't have a shunt to check it with. Anybody else notice this with the Everlast Power Arc welder? This bead looks better than the 3/32 rod. This is 1/4" plate to 1/2" plate. The weld is hot enough, almost to the point of undercutting but the puddle looks cold. I like a little more inductance in my V/I curve or a flatter curve. I think more inductance in the welder would make a the bead wet out better.

Steve,
Besides a little practice, there is not much wrong with that weld. Some welders don't weld worth two cents with some rods. But I use Hobarts a lot and never have any issue. As most people can attest, Inverters and Transformer techniques are different.. This unit has plenty of whatever it needs for 6013, in fact that is the rod that is most commonly used in its native market for root passes, and handles it quite well.

The Puddle looking "cold" is simply that you have a tightly controlled arc. Welcome to the world of "inverters"...This is their charachteristic.

IF you want a little hotter puddle, then plug it into the 6010 setting.
