Don't you old folks know that all that exercise will make you tired?;) I turned 65 yesterday myself and if I'm still awake when the lady comes to sit with my 90 year old mother, I'm going to try to get my lazy self out to check on the cows and work on my slasher.
If I over do it, I'll be sore and irritable. Ibuprofen and coffee are usually all I take for pain.

" . . . and anytime I don't have any work around my place, I go over and help her just so I can keep active . . . "

Wait -- when is that. I think I speak for most of us when I say I have never experienced that situation. :) But might like to try it sometime.

Depending on time of the day, I use Dr. Bacardi and Nurse Cola . I switch arms from time to time for equal muscular development . :D

Well I'll be 73 in two weeks. Plied the carpenter trade until age 70 and now retired since October of '13.
Still doing pretty well except for macular degeneration which started showing up about a year ago. I can still putter around on the tractor but distance vision is shot so the good spouse does all the driving. BUMMER!
When I asked the eye doc what I could have, should have, could have, done to prevent the problem he looked me straight in the eye and said " well, you could have had better parents". Bingo, my father had the condition as did my paternal grandmother so I guess it's in the gene pool **** it.

Any other members willing to share how to cope or have come up with alternative treatment? My eye doc says he can do his best to preserve what's left but can't restore what's lost.

I'm getting close to 80; beer seems to help me a lot. :D I try to do as much around the house and yard as I can stand, but have one knee, shoulder and wrist that began acting up this year. Guess I will have to see the doc soon. A couple ibuprofen per day helps a lot. The falling part I can identify with; fell on the patio the other night, BIG bruise on my hip, chipped my front teeth and scattered pork ribs all over the deck when I knocked over the Weber.

I still have a lot of strength, and the Chiropractor said my bone health was in the 98 percentile, but pain limits a lot of what I can do now. Maybe I can paint the house for one last time.

I'll be 68 early July and I seem to be in better physical health than most of my peers. They have finally got me on one pill a day, VA, 5mg of some kind of blood pressure medicine, explained to them it wasn't my heart but the proximity to their facility that sends the blood pressure through the roof.

I wish I could say it was something that I have done to make it this way but the reality I believe is 99% genetic and good fortune. The genes have given me a resistance to the diseases that have sidelined some of my buds. It also has provided with no needs for the stuff that is so addictive that has also sidelined the buds, diabetes, alcoholism, tobacco use etc. Good fortune in that the accidents have always been close calls and not fatal or crippling.

Since I see it as all genetic and good fortune I find suggesting that someone not so lucky suffers from character flaws is irrational.
