The shaft does not go all the way onto the mid PTO. It only goes on so the end of the PTO is flush with the drive shaft yoke. See figure 9 in the instructions. This leaves a bit more than an inch gap where you can see the mid PTO spline shaft. The yoke on the other end, ( the front PTO) goes on with only a small gap to the collar on the stub shaft, about 3/8 inch. If you take this into consideration I think you will find the shaft needs to be 54 inches.

I measued it like you said and as close as I can tell I need a 54" shaft. So that would make all of the brackets correct. Thanks for the help, now I know I just need a shaft. Hopefully I will eventually get it.

The part number for the correct shaft that goes on your tractor, and mine, is 7169115.
Where did you get the number for the shaft?

It comes from the installation instructions, page 10, which is a parts list for the front PTO kit.

Are you using a back blade with your 235? I'm in the market trying to decide which one to do mild driveway grading, and snow removal augmentation. Any experience you might have would be appreciated.
I will only be available till noon on the 16th in case you have any other questions regarding the blower. Will be back again in about 10 days. Good luck getting the right shaft.

I bought a woods rb72 back in december for my 8n ford, then I bought this tractor. Now I wish I had a heavier duty blade. I don't use 4wd or locking differential. the rb72 is alright for pretty light work but if you want to cut some ditches or do grading its a little weak, the thing flexes alot. The rb72 is fine for move a pile of loose topsoil. If I could sell this blade I would get a woods hbl72. I made a thread a week or so ago asking about blades and someone posted a pic of a bushhog 50 series blade. It is a nice looking blade. I would not recommend a woods rb series or 35 series bushhog. thanks for your help, I should be good to go once I get the correct shaft.

I have had a back box for years, I used to use it on my 8N, and I struggled last fall deciding if I should purchase a rear blade.
I used the back box this winter and loved it, between snow in the winter and grading in the summer it is perfect
:)
