Re: 62\" MMM tips

Another thing to keep in mind, is that the front gauge wheels are "balls" on this deck; if you have tight radius' to cut with slope changes, these wheels will actually dig into the lawn. The first couple of times I thought it was the tires, but quickly figured out it was the wheels. Raising them to the higher settings works, but then the deck can scalp in certain situations. Deere should go back to the swivel large diameter wheels their old commercial decks had.

( If you set them as described above, on concrete, when you go out to mow, your gauge wheels may be trying to carry part of the weight of the deck, )

I believe that if the wheels are set above the ground (as described above), the laws of physics dictate that they cannot carry any load--i.e. weight of the deck, as so eloquently stated.

Re: 62\" MMM tips

The wheels ride over and lift the deck over high spot; the total weight of the deck is carried by the tractor. The full weight of the deck should never be on the wheels, expect when you’re removing the deck. Like JDFAN said if you make a sharp turn you may catch the wheel and bend the adjustment arms on the wheel. The 1/4"-1/2" above the ground is the recommended adjustment by JD.

Re: 62\" MMM tips

I used to think the deck level changed every time I removed the deck. it may have been that the U hangar on the front of the deck was binding a little when it was new and not swinging freely enough to level itself. I no longer notice this. Also, for best cut and less "mower poop" build up underneath the deck the front of the deck should be set ever so slightly lower than the back while cutting.

Re: 62\" MMM tips

Is the front U Hanger supposed to swing freely? I didn'y know that, mine is tight with zero movement. Is there a way to judge how much "play" there should be?
