When you turn the key on, you should hear the electric transfer pump in the tank humming. Try loosening the bleed screw on the fuel filter with key on and see if fuel squirts out. If it does, then follow the fuel line from the filter to the injection pump. Loosen the fitting at the pump with key on until you get good fuel flow. Then loosen a couple of fuel lines leading to the injectors and crank engine and see if you get any fuel. If you do, tighten the fittings and crank some more. Engine should start. SOunds like the fuel may have drained back while sitting. Actually before you do all that, I should have said to check for 12 volts going to the fuel shut off solenoid on the pump. If not then check for blown fuses.
