6284 Cut questions

I always like it when someone will go up on the price of an item when you go back for a second look. It's about that time that I let them know they aren't the only _____, _____, or _____ dealer in town. If he couldn't stick to the original price he quoted there may have been other things he didn't tell you or he wouldn't stand behind either.

I have had the same response from this forum about the Cub 5000 series. Not many out there, not talking, or not part of this forum.

I purchased a 5254 from a local dealer who sells them as a sideline to his used car business. What a mistake. Don't carry parts, don't know the answer to any questions, can't fix anything. I wanted to buy locally, it just didn't work out. Fortunately not many problems, a very sound tractor. Still it would have been nice to have local support.

Even at my age, I still haven't learned that the dealer needs to be checked out as much as the product.

kcook,
I'd run from that Dlr. !
My Dealer has been good; he seems as though he'll go the extra "mile' to help .( within reason... )
He handles other lines of tractor(s) and says that Cub (factory) does respond well compared to others ? I would have to agree, for the most part. ( but I have no experience with others)
I'm supposed to get the 6284 today.

I have found the key to a happy ownership experience is a good dealer that carries a good inventory of parts. I had quite a few problems with my 5234D (the diesel of the 5000 series) in the first 6 months or so of ownership. The dealer took care of all my problems promptly and even took care of a couple of repairs I didn't know I needed. I did not have to call CC directly to get involved. My transmission needed to be replaced and instead of making me wait until one could be built for me they took one from the production line and rushed it to my dealer. I was up and running in less than a week. All problems were taken care of under warranty.

My Cub dealer is 45 miles away, the closest Cub dealer to me is 15 miles away. The closest dealer would not even let me test out a 5234D when I was shopping. The so called showroom was filthy, the service area was filthy, and his new tractors and equipment were all kept outside and all were filthy. Everything at my dealer is first class and customer service is excellent. I really got lucky in finding such a good dealer. Cub Cadet is his main line of equipment, he even carries the 7000 and 8000 series tractors.

If you want a Cub and can't find a good dealer find a different brand of tractor.
