I can see their reasoning.. BUT Unless you have a fel to lift the MMM how would you get it up to do maintenance on the new version? that thing is a bear to move around on the ground, and for a mere mortal man nearly impossible to lift..

just wondering

I was at my dealer today, and he apparently did get a call from JD about why the lifting brackets are no longer on the 62D mower decks.

He said that JD had done a market analysis and that the majority of buyers did not consider this as a "High Priority" feature of the deck, so JD decided to no longer include brackets on the decks.

Apparently nothing to do with safety, just that in JD's opinion, because the feature was not perceived as that much of a benefit by the consumer, they may as well save the cost and not include them. (Apparently this cost savings was passed on to the consumer.......yea right......if you believe that, I've got this nice bridge for sale.)

They sure didn't ask me, I was expecting them to be there. My salesman assumed there must have been a service bulletin stating that the brackets were going to be discontinued, but the info never got their sales people.

I couldn't even order a set to have then installed after the fact.. They have been permanently discontinued.

My point exactly. How do you lift the thing? As I said, the "Stow & Go" feature was a "BIG" feature in my opinion, because I also have an X495 with the 62" deck, and it is also a bear to lift it up and do any servicing under it.

I find it very hard to believe that in JD's opinion, supposedly based on some kind of market feedback, that most buyers didn't see any benefit to this feature.

I for one am quite disappointed that I don't have the lifting brackets, and I know I would have used them. Now I'm trying to figure out how the h... I'm going to move the thing to a winter storage spot. I don't have the luxury of being able to drop it in the middle of my garage and leave it there. I do have the FEL, but I really don't relish the idea of a 400+ lb deck being lifted up by a chain and swinging around on the end of my bucket. My dealer originally told me that you could put it on the 3PTH and if you wanted even swing it up. for easy access to the underside. So much for that idea.

I'm sure I will come up with something, but the lift brackets would have been the ticket for my needs.

Personally, I do think that JD had some other issue with it, whether it was safety or something else, but they aren't saying. The idea that the feature was not being used therefore we will delete it, to me is BS.

How i lift my deck is with the FEL with the bucket removed.. I tried with the bucket but I think its easier with it removed. If I had hooks on my bucket it would probably leave it on.

I take the end of a chain and go thru the end connector (the top hole) down to the 'now eliminated' hitch pins and back up to the chain. so each side is independently connected..

I would think that you could hook it the same way but go to where the front connection bar is, on mine that is a welded bracket..

Seems like they eliminated the brackets about the time they added the garden hose wash-out fitting. I'd rather have the brackets.

My last 62D on the 2320 had both the brackets and garden hose fittings

Mine has them, never used them. Never will.

They are handy for picking up on the Imatch to clean the deck

Make or buy yourself a pair of axle stands.

That is a good idea. Like your setup. Right now I'm having to lift them on to a pallet one corner at a time and move them with my forks. I can manage right now, but one day my back is going to give out. Eventhough I lift with my legs, sometimes the back does handle its share of the weight.

Now, I'm trying to figure out a way to make them "steerable" so I don't have to pick up one end to turn it....as was said, the ...... thing IS HEAVY.
