Howdy all,
I'm in the process of replacing the head gasket. Thought I would bring the injectors in for service as you need to remove them to pull the head.
The local shop wants........$700 to fix them!
Anyone know where a guy can buy refurbished ones?
Injectors "labor" & testing is THE biggest rip off in a fuel shop..
It takes about 10 minutes to test a whole set..{6} & even less time for a 4 cyl..
I do it for FREE.. & charge 20.00 labor, each, if they has to come down..
What REALLY chaps my azz is, NOW they're holding them hostage.!!!
I would pay the 90.00 bucks, get them back & NEVER EVER darken their door step again..
& tell everyone u can find NOT to do business w/ them.!!!
I worked in a fuel shop for 30+ years{retired 2 yrs ago} & know EVERY trick in the book & it makes me sick.. THATS WHY I do what I do..
Help folks out..

To be fair.. u cant tell if an injector is "bad" by looking at it.. they have to be tested..
& if u didn't want any work performed on them, why did u bring them in??
U coulda CALLED & asked for a quote..
Don't get me wrong.. its a total rip-off.. I was just trying to ease "the sting" a bit..
It happens day in & day out here in the States.. & the one that gets me is>
"We wont charge u the initial labor if u let US fix them"..
THATS WHY I don't charge anyone to tell them IF their injectors are good or bad..
The co. I used to work for did that & still does.. they charge $45.00 A PIECE to tell u your injectors are "bad"..
I use quotation marks there because hardly anyone will take the time to clean a nozzle anymore.. theres just no money in it..
So they get replaced.. Now ME on the other hand will take the time to clean & lap 1 SEVERAL TIMES trying to get it to work.. & if I tell u, u NEED nozzles.. then U NEED nozzles..
I cant remember the last time I sold a nozzle..
OH YEAH, it was about 4 months ago on a JD Yanmar.. & I ended up buying the tool to remove the injector too..
