I'm surprised you have to remove the grill guard to get at the battery. I have a grill guard on the 770 and can access the battery by tilting down the top of the grill, unhooking the springs and lifting the grill off.
They must have changed the design. Send a picture of the grill guard if you can.

Here's a close up of the guard. The 670 didn't have a guard, but I know what you mean (saw it in the manual).
It's welded solid to the front weight bracket. The tractor manual doesn't show it and the loader manual doesn't say anything about removing it to service the battery.
I'm sure there's a way to do it...just haven't figured it out yet.

Complete brain fade on my part Roy. I opened your pic thinking I'd see a nifty grille guard I could add to my tractor. I forgot you've got the 419 loader and I've got the 70. Completely different up front there.

I have a 790 with 419 FEL and getting to the battery is no problem with the guard in place. In fact, I have removed my battery (because of corrosion issues - a different forum) several times and replaced it with a different one. You can lift the battery straight out of its cubby hole. It's a little tight, but really no problem. You do have to remove the air cleaner, but that's a matter of just two bolts and a hose clamp. You don't even have to do that just to add water or check the battery.

I'll wager you that little 670 isn't on the dealer's lot too long! It'll go for under $10K and will be an outstanding tractor for someone who need a smaller machine.

Ah, that's a negative.. Both of 'em are well over 100K miles and still run good. Just can't see tading them off yet.
When it's time to trade, the Ranger will go first...looking for a half to three-quarter ton full sized pickup for the next one. Probably be an extended cab. Last one we looked at was a Dodge Ram.
That little Ranger has been a great work truck though. Only downside is I bought it for me, but the wifey took command of it within a few weeks.
