this looks like what you need. Ford 4000 Rebuilt Carburetor - 1321-CARB a new zenith carburetor for the ford 4000 3 cyl goes for over $500 whereas the carb for the 4 cyl is much cheaper for some reason!..

I haven't had to purchase a tractor carb before and experienced some sticker shock. So the rebuild kit I purchased seemed the reasonable answer. We'll see how that works out. If not, I know some things now that I didn't before. Thanks for the link!

You can rebuild the carb yourself. The carb kit should come with a parts diagram numbered 1,2,3.... Start taking it apart at #1 and go to the end. Clean it all good. I like to spray through every hole etc. with brake clean to make sure nothing is plugged. Put it back together in reverse order from the way you took it apart paying attention to all the required adjustments listed on the reverse side of the parts diagram. I like to push a thin copper wire through all the small holes in the jets just to make sure they aren't plugged. Enjoy your clean carb.

While you have the carb off drain the fuel tank and make sure the sediment bowl is clean. Remove the fuel shut off from the fuel tank and make sure it's inner passage ways are clean.
